PRIVACY POLICY

STATUS: ACTIVELAST UPDATED: AUGUST 29, 2026APP: GHOST DETECTOR
Your privacy choices remain under your control. Camera and microphone permissions can be revoked at any time through iOS Settings.

This Privacy Policy explains how Ghost Detector (“Ghost Detector,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the Ghost Detector iOS application and its related website (together, the “Services”). It identifies the information processed, how it is used and shared, how long it is retained, and the choices available to you.

[01]

SCOPE & OPERATOR

This policy applies to the Services and to support requests you submit. Ghost Detector is operated by Karim Abdelcadir.

INFORMATION WE PROCESS

The information processed depends on the features you choose to use:

  • Camera and augmented-reality data. The App uses the camera feed and device motion or orientation data to place visual entities in your surroundings. These inputs are processed to provide the live AR experience.
  • Microphone and audio data. If you enable an audio or Spirit Box feature, the App may process microphone input to provide the feature. Microphone access occurs only after iOS permission is granted.
  • Evidence and app content. Captures, collection progress, settings, fictional evidence records, and other content you create may be stored on your device. Content is shared with another service or person only when you deliberately use an available sharing or backup feature.
  • Purchase information. If paid features are offered, Apple processes payment details. We may receive limited purchase and entitlement information, such as product identifier, subscription status, transaction identifier, and expiration date, to unlock or restore features. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
  • Diagnostics. Apple may provide crash reports, performance data, device model, operating-system version, App version, and similar technical information when you have permitted Apple to share diagnostics with developers.
  • Support requests. If you use the support form, we receive the details and technical information you choose to provide.
  • Website data. Our website host and analytics providers may process IP address, browser and device type, approximate region, referring page, pages viewed, and interaction data to operate, secure, and understand use of the website.

Camera imagery, microphone input, and raw motion-sensor data are used for the live feature and are not retained by us unless a feature clearly asks you to save, upload, or share the resulting content.

[03]

HOW WE USE INFORMATION

  • Provide AR encounters, scans, audio experiences, captures, collections, settings, and requested functionality.
  • Verify purchases, restore entitlements, and prevent transaction abuse.
  • Diagnose crashes, maintain security, improve stability, and understand website performance.
  • Respond to support, privacy, and legal requests.
  • Comply with law, enforce our terms, and protect users, the public, and the Services.

We do not use camera or microphone input for advertising or to identify you.

[04]

PERMISSIONS & CONSENT

iOS controls camera and microphone permissions. You may deny or revoke access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security. Features that require a revoked permission will stop working, but other features may remain available. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent through device settings or the support form.

[05]

SHARING & SERVICE PROVIDERS

We do not sell personal information and do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. Information may be handled by:

  • Apple, for App Store distribution, purchases, subscription management, crash reporting, and platform services.
  • Vercel, for website hosting, delivery, security, and privacy-focused site analytics.
  • Google Analytics, if enabled on the website, for aggregated website traffic and interaction measurement.
  • Authorities or advisers, when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud, or complete a business reorganisation.

We require service providers that process information for us to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law. Their independent activities are also governed by their own privacy terms.

[06]

RETENTION & DELETION

  • Camera, microphone, and raw motion inputs are processed transiently for the live experience and are not retained by us unless you expressly save or share resulting content.
  • Locally stored evidence, progress, and settings remain until you delete them in the App, clear App data, or uninstall the App.
  • Purchase and transaction records may be retained for the duration of an entitlement and as required for accounting, fraud prevention, or legal compliance.
  • Support requests are generally retained for up to 24 months after resolution, unless longer retention is required for security, disputes, or law.
  • Website analytics and server logs are retained according to provider settings and only as long as reasonably necessary for security and measurement.

To request deletion of information held by us, use the support form and select a privacy-related subject. We may need to verify your request. We cannot delete information controlled independently by Apple; manage that information through your Apple Account.

[07]

YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or an objection to certain processing, and to appeal or complain to a data-protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. Requests can be submitted through the support form.

[08]

SECURITY

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards designed to protect information. No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

[09]

CHILDREN

The Services are not directed to children under 13, or the minimum digital-consent age required in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If you believe a child has provided information, submit a support request so we can investigate and delete it where required.

[10]

INTERNATIONAL PROCESSING

Our providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, we use recognised safeguards for international transfers and require appropriate protection.

[11]

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy as the Services or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here, change the “Last updated” date, and provide additional notice where required. Material changes apply prospectively.
